A Village That Heals Youth Camp

Now in its fifth year, The Village That Heals Youth Summer Camp is a trauma-informed, community-rooted initiative powered by By Faith Health and Healing under the leadership of Executive Director Brenda Mosley. Launched in partnership with Kensington Soccer Club, the 2025 summer camp kicks off with renewed purpose: to provide a safe, supportive space where youth can heal, grow, and thrive.

This year’s camp takes place on the field generously provided by New Kensington Community Development Corporation (NKCDC)—a critical partner whose contribution enables us to deliver restorative programming in a neighborhood where children face daily adversity. The field is not just a physical space; it is a sanctuary for transformation and joy.

The camp integrates structured programming that speaks directly to youth development, emotional healing, and empowerment. Core components include:

  • Soccer training led by professional-level coaches

  • Visual arts workshops in collaboration with artists from Mural Arts Philadelphia

  • American Sign Language (ASL) instruction, a staple of our camp now in its fifth year

  • Physical fitness and wellness activities facilitated by certified trainers and community partners

This multi-disciplinary approach is designed not only to nurture talent and skills but also to promote mental wellness, communication, and confidence. Over the years, we’ve witnessed our youth evolve—some becoming elite soccer players, fluent in ASL, expressive through art, and committed to their physical health.

We proudly recognize the contributions of local law enforcement, particularly Lt. Lisa and Sgt. Wong, for their consistent presence and service, ensuring the safety and freedom our children need to play, learn, and heal.

The success of The Village That Heals Youth Summer Camp is measured not only in programming milestones, but in the resilience, growth, and joy reflected in the faces of the children we serve. As we move into another year, we give thanks—for our partners, for our youth, and above all, for the vision that continues to manifest through faith, service, and love.
